Surgical Services

At Sage Veterinary Center, we are equipped to perform most soft tissue surgical procedures for your cat or your dog may need. We offer advanced care and state-of-the-art equipment at our facility.

  • Our experienced staff veterinarians provide many surgical services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. We do occasionally refer cases to surgical specialists to perform complex operations when advanced equipment or training will be beneficial.

Our veterinary team takes every precaution so that your pet receives the highest-quality care. We perform a physical exam and pre-anesthetic testing before surgery, monitor your pet during surgery and provide appropriate pain medication to keep your pet comfortable during recovery.

Sage is also proud to partner with Dr. Alix McGrath of The Bridge Clinic, whose practice is limited to surgery. Dr. McGrath’s expertise in complex surgical cases comes from a vast background in shelter and non-profit medicine, where funds are often limited, but the need is immense.

Dr. McGrath visits Sage on an as-needed basis for complex surgical cases, allowing clients to care for their pet’s surgical needs without having to leave the comfort of the practice they know and love.

  • At Sage Veterinary Center, we recommend spaying or neutering to prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce the risk of other health problems. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule, and our veterinarians will have an open discussion with you to decide on the best time to spay or neuter your dog or cat.

    Why is this important?

Spaying your pet early on offers the best protection from diseases like uterine infections and mammary tumors. Neutering your male companion prevents testicular cancer and certain prostate conditions. Other added benefits include:

    • Your female pet will not go into heat once it is spayed.

    • May help improve behavior and social interactions between pets

  • We are proud to offer orthopedic surgical procedures for a variety of injuries and conditions. We utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging to enhance our capabilities for surgery, ensuring that your pet has access to the highest standard of veterinary medicine.

Sage partners with Dr. Karen Cherrone of KLC Veterinary Surgical Services for all of our orthopedic surgical needs. Whether it be a Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL), Cranial Crucial Ligament (CCL), or other orthopedic injury, Dr. Cherrone is a boarded veterinary surgeon who can treat complex surgical cases within the comfort and familiarity of Sage Vet’s doors.

Dr. Cherrone visits Sage on an as-needed basis, for previously-scheduled procedures for current Sage patients.
